How To Make Netherite Armor In Minecraft Bedrock

Netherite armor is the most powerful protective gear available in Minecraft Bedrock Edition. It surpasses diamond armor in durability, provides higher armor toughness, and possesses a unique property: it does not burn in lava. Because Netherite cannot be crafted from scratch using a crafting table, players must upgrade existing diamond gear through a specific process.

In this tutorial, I will show you how to craft and upgrade your gear to full Netherite, ensuring you are prepared for the toughest encounters in the Overworld and the Nether.

Prerequisites: Gathering Diamond Armor

Before you can obtain Netherite, you must first acquire a full set of diamond armor. You cannot skip this step, as Netherite serves as an upgrade rather than a standalone material. To get diamond armor, you will need to go mining for diamonds, typically found in the deepslate layers of the world (Y-level -58 is often ideal).

Helmet: 5 Diamonds
Chestplate: 8 Diamonds
Leggings: 7 Diamonds
Boots: 4 Diamonds

Step 1: Mining for Ancient Debris

To create Netherite, you need a material called Ancient Debris. This rare ore is only found in the Nether. Unlike other ores, Ancient Debris is blast-resistant and requires a Diamond Pickaxe or a Netherite Pickaxe to mine.

The most effective way to find Ancient Debris is to mine at Y-level 15. Because the ore is sparse, many players use "strip mining" or use beds and TNT to create large explosions, exposing the debris hidden behind netherrack. You will need a total of 4 Ancient Debris pieces for every single piece of armor you wish to upgrade.

Step 2: Smelting Netherite Scraps

Once you have collected your Ancient Debris, place it into a furnace or a blast furnace. Smelting one piece of Ancient Debris yields one Netherite Scrap. Remember, if you are aiming for a full set of armor, you will need 16 scraps in total.

Step 3: Crafting Netherite Ingots

Netherite Scraps cannot be used on their own. You must combine them with gold to create a Netherite Ingot. Open your crafting table and use the following recipe:

4 Netherite Scraps
4 Gold Ingots

Place these in any configuration in the crafting grid to produce one Netherite Ingot. Each piece of armor requires one ingot for the upgrade process.

Step 4: Using the Smithing Table

In older versions of Minecraft, Netherite was crafted directly in the crafting table. However, in current Bedrock versions, you must use a Smithing Table. This is a dedicated workstation crafted using 2 iron ingots and 4 wooden planks.

To perform the upgrade, open the Smithing Table interface and place the items in the following slots:

The Template Slot: Place a Netherite Upgrade Smithing Template here. (Note: These are found in Bastion Remnants in the Nether).
The Gear Slot: Place your piece of Diamond Armor.
The Material Slot: Place your Netherite Ingot.

Once these three items are placed, the output slot will provide the upgraded Netherite version of your armor. This process preserves any enchantments already present on the diamond gear, making it the most efficient way to maintain your gear's power.
