How To Fight Zote In Godhome
Godhome is the ultimate destination for any Hollow Knight player who wants to test their mettle against the toughest enemies. One of the most iconic battles in this realm is the fight against Zote, the self‑proclaimed champion. This guide breaks down everything you need to know—from how to reach the fight to the tactics that will help you win.
1. Reaching the Zote Encounter
Zote’s fight takes place in a hidden chamber that is only accessible after completing the Eternal Ordeal. The Eternal Ordeal is a series of trials that unlocks the final area of Godhome, and it is entirely fitting that only the bravest souls can reach this point.
To get there, you must first:
- Defeat the final boss of the Eternal Ordeal.
- Enter the secret room on your way to the Pantheons.
- Use the hidden switch behind the cracked wall to open the locked door at the bottom left of the chamber.
Once the door opens, a narrow corridor leads you to a small, dimly lit room where Zote waits. The room’s walls are covered with ancient glyphs, and the air hums with a faint, ominous energy.
2. Gear Up Before the Battle
Because Zote is a highly mobile foe that uses a wide range of attacks, you’ll want to be well‑equipped. Consider the following:
- Charms: The Quick Slash and Quick Step charms reduce the time between attacks and increase dodge speed. The Warding charm can help mitigate damage from Zote’s melee strikes.
- Attunement: Keep at least two free attunement slots for quick‑use charms such as Quick Slash or Quick Step.
- Health: Aim for a maximum of 7 health hearts. A full health pool allows you to survive a few of Zote’s early combos.
- Bombs: Carry a few bombs for crowd control if Zote summons minions.
Before the fight, you can also use the Grappling Hook to reach higher platforms that will be useful later on.
